ROV Survey & Anchor Installation Support for GPSMACS at Deep Engineering Wonder

Client: GPSMACS Diving Company UK
End Client: Intermarine (Island Provider)
Main Client: DEEP Engineering Wonder
Project Scope: Pre-Job Survey, Anchor Positioning & Installation Support for Sentinel System Development
Location: Deep Engineering Facility, Chepstow, Wales
Technology Utilized: Advanced Imaging Sonar, ROV Positioning Systems, Diver Overwatch, ROV Deployment and Positioning of 3 Ton Anchor Sinkers

Project Overview:

CORTEC was engaged by GPSMACS Diving Company UK to provide ROV survey and installation support for the Sentinel System development at the Deep Engineering facility in Chepstow, Wales. Commissioned by Intermarine, which provided the island infrastructure, and on behalf of DEEP Engineering Wonder, our role included conducting a pre-job survey, precisely positioning the 3- and 6-ton anchor sinkers, and ensuring a safe and efficient installation process.

Execution:

Using high-resolution imaging sonar and advanced ROV positioning systems, our team conducted a detailed pre-lay survey to assess the seabed conditions and determine optimal placement for the anchor sinkers. During the installation phase, we:

  • Precisely positioned the anchor sinkers at their designated locations.

  • Oriented the sinkers to align with project specifications.

  • Guided the crane subsea, ensuring controlled and accurate placement of the anchors.

  • Maintained continuous diver overwatch, enhancing safety and reducing risk during critical operations.

Our integrated approach allowed for a seamless installation process, safeguarding both the project’s structural integrity and the safety of all personnel involved.

Results:

The project was successfully completed, with our ROV-assisted surveying and installation support ensuring accurate anchor placement, optimal orientation, and safe crane operations. This operation played a key role in the development of DEEP Engineering Wonder’s Sentinel System, reinforcing CORTEC’s reputation for precision, reliability, and excellence in complex underwater installations.

By combining cutting-edge ROV technology with expert subsea support, CORTEC continues to provide high-quality solutions for marine engineering and subsea research projects.
