Project Overview:

CORTEC was engaged by Marine Cable Services (MCS) to support the cable landing operations for a major fibre optic telecommunications project commissioned by ASN Alcatel on behalf of Facebook. Our role focused on conducting pre- and post-lay ROV surveys for the final 1.5 km of cable installation at the Blyth, UK landing site.

Execution:

Using our advanced ROV positioning systems and high-resolution imaging sonar technology, we conducted a pre-lay survey to assess seabed conditions, ensuring a safe and optimal cable placement. During and after the installation, our post-lay survey verified the cable’s positioning and burial depth, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Results:

The project was successfully executed, with our ROV technology providing precise positioning data and clear imaging to support the final stage of the cable landing. Our efficient and technology-driven approach helped ensure a smooth, accurate, and risk-free installation for MCS and ASN Alcatel, contributing to the overall success of Facebook’s new subsea fibre optic link between Denmark and the UK.
